Super Bowl chili

A Super Bowl party without chili is like nachos without cheese, wings without hot sauce, the Patriots without a sideline camera. No matter which team you’re rooting for, everyone can agree that chili’s a winner. Here are a few recipes to get you started:

Pork Cheek and Black-Eyed Pea Chili from Food & Wine (and don’t forget the Guinness Ice Cream with Chocolate Covered Pretzels for dessert)

Ding Dong Eight-alarm Chili from Gourmet

Vegetarian Chili with Chocolate from Real Simple

30-Minute Chili from Everyday Food

For the lazy, I recommend the chili spice mixes made by Hard Times Cafe. Four different styles, all of them very good. I often use the “Texas” mix, then give it a little boost with fresh garlic, onions, and so forth. Very quick and simple.
