We vacationed in London back in May and had lots of fabulous food. So before I forget everything, next week will be entirely dedicated to this wonderful city.
For many, London still has the reputation of serving nothing but scary British food like mystery meat and kidney pies, bubble and squeak, and greasy baked beans for breakfast. Some of the stereotypes still hold true, but these days it’s actually difficult to find truly awful food. Like any large metropolis, there are literally hundreds of dining options which fall into every range on the quality spectrum. But also like any big city, there’s a huge array of food to choose from, and London’s rich ethnic and cultural diversity greatly contributes to the variety and quality of the dining landscape. From Indian to Chinese to Italian, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes. It’s a lot like Chicago or New York or San Francisco — a melting pot of colorful neighborhoods and nationalities and people who are proud to share their culinary heritage. There’s even been a resurgence of really good traditional British cooking which I’ll tell you about in a few days.
Stay tuned for more!
