If you fancy something more than a cup of joe and a stale pastry while surfing the web, you’re in luck. There are quite a few places in Chicago that offer free wi-fi along with real food from the basic to the downright decadent.
Call to verify business hours and internet accessibility; we’re not responsible if you end up having to trek to your friendly neighborhood Panera.
avec (615 W. Randolph, 312-377-2002) – This Mediterranean small plates spot features goodies like chorizo-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, an extensive wine list, and stays open really late — the bar closes at 2 AM Monday through Friday, 3 AM Saturday, and midnight Sunday. The kitchen shuts down two hours prior to close, but you shouldn’t be eating (or surfing the web) that late anyway.
Goose Island Brew Pub (1800 N. Clybourn, 312-915-0071) – If you can tolerate the noise, you can get some business done while enjoying beer and classic American bar food (wings, burgers, etc.).
Kitsch’n River North (600 W. Chicago, 312-644-1500) – There’s nothing more comforting than devouring chicken pot pie and Twinkie tiramisu while watching reruns of Growing Pains on YouTube.
Park Grill and Park Café at Millennium Park (11 N. Michigan, 312-521-7275) – All of Millennium Park is supposed to be a wireless hotspot, but the wi-fi connection can be a little sketchy. If you can get a signal, all the better with which to savor your Rainbow Cone from the café or elegant American fare on the outdoor patio of Park Grill.
Avenues, Pierrot Gourmet, The Lobby, and Shanghai Terrace at The Peninsula Hotel (108 E. Superior, 312-337-2888) – Can you imagine updating your MySpace profile and texting your bff about the cutest new top you saw at hollister omg while noshing on executive chef Graham Elliot Bowles’ 4-star cuisine? Uhh, neither can we. Moving on…
Piece (1927 W. North Ave., 773-772-4422) – New Haven style thin crust pizza, local brew. That’s more like it.

Goose Island! Consistent above-average ratings on pretty much all their brews. That’s where you’d find me….
This post should definitely be filed under “beer”
Yeah, Goose Island is pretty good! Also, Piece won the 2006 World Beer Cup in the Small Brewpub category.
